Biological Activity:
Cytidine 5'-diphosphocholine (CDP-choline) is a naturally occurring precurser of phosphatidylcholine that has been shown to prevent post-necrotic lesion phospholipid destruction in rabbits by inhibiting activation of phopholipase A2 at 200 mg/kg. In rat studies, CDP-choline has been shown to induce dopamine and acetylcholine receptor densities. Other studies have shown neural and non-neural cholinergic activity increase in dogs with endotoxemia. Additionally CDP-choline has been noted to potentially increase the stimulated release of thyroid stimulating hormone, growth hormone, and luteinizing hormone in rats.
